I Fediversum finns det mycket få troll och dessutom ingen reklam. Inte heller finns det storföretagsstyrda algoritmer som styr vad du ser. Hur kommer det då sig att Fediversum har så troll och högerextremister som förstör diskussionsklimatet.

@Theblueone Honestly if you dont support #fedipact at this point, something is deeply wrong with you.
If you think it's news that Meta's new public policy director, Dustin Carmack, is a Project 2025 co-author,
Consider dropping a tip to your preferred news outlet. I've already sent an email to @verge and I implore you to do the same.

@FediPact anyone who doesnt defederate an instance whose public policy is set by *Project 2025* needs to have a think about their values and priorities as a community leader. #FediPact #meta #project2025 #threads
This is a big enough deal to organize around. Anybody on threads have any insight into the social movers and shakers over there? We should try to get in contact with them.
I have a hard time believing anybody who's not explicitly right wing would be OK with being on the "project 2025 social network".

meta's public policy director for threads.net and other platforms is one of the authors of project 2025

rant about how tech bros dont care about ethics and dont understand systems of abuse, re: #fedipact
BAN FUCKING NAZIS
it's such a low godddamn bar to clear
and yet, by and large, the fediverse is the only major social media platform that actually manages to do this (the decent sections of it, at least)
why? well, here's the big secret: BECAUSE WE DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT PROFIT
big companies allow nazis to fester on their services because it makes them money, and here we're not beholden to such a corrupting influence. that's kinda the entire point
i think the most annoying thing about this whole discourse is that people refuse to judge threads by the standard of any other fedi instance
like if a mastodon instance got set up and federated right now and it allowed the shit threads allowed it'd be widely defederated IMMEDIATELY
there are accounts literally CALLING FOR THE DEATHS OF QUEER PEOPLE on there right fucking now
the only reason people are even willing to give them a chance is because it's a big corpo, but that should only be reason to give them less of one lmao. especially considering meta's history in particular
don't let them lower the bar for moderation standards here

me, vanta, trans enby girl polyam lesbian gender terrorist: "people should block threads because it will make fedi unsafe for queer people"
the verge, for some reason: "OBVIOUSLY it's a bunch of NERD BOYS trying to keep the WOMEN out"
Instances in the free fediverses should consider "transitive defederation" from instances that federate with Meta

Part 7 of Strategies for the free fediverses
Transitive defederation -- defederating from instances that federate with Threads as well as defederating from Threads -- isn't likely to be an all-or-nothing thing in the free fediverses. Tradeoffs are different for different people and instances. This is one of the strengths of the fediverse, so however much transitive defederation there winds up being, I see it as overall as a positive thing -- although also messy and complicated.
So the recommendation here is for instances to *consider* #TransitiveDefederation: discuss, and decide what to do. I've also got some thoughts on how to have the discussion -- and the strategic aspects.
