I have used Google Meet and Zoom in the past, particularly for teaching online during covid. I am starting online teaching again, and the question of which platform I use has come up. Privacy is not a major concern, and I am already running Nextcloud.
Does Nextcloud Talk have better features than the others? Do you prefer it from a user point of view?

After spending some time hacking my own vision out of necessity today, Iron (wo)Man style, I finally managed to finish the analysis of how we are currently using Nextcloud for file sync and sharing. I don't know who might find this chart interesting, but it is detailed and those details are accurate for our setup. Reason I need this is because before you migrate to a better system, it is a good practice to see things clearly as they are first.

@Eternal_Light I also recommend #NextCloud. If you need to backup to #S3 it is fairly easy to set up. You can also run #MinIO on another server too if you need it locally.

Ich setze aktuell einen nextcloud Server auf für den Hausgebrauch. Ein Zugriff von außen ist in nächster Zeit nicht vorgesehen und es werden vermutlich nur zwei User mit 1 - 4 clients darauf zugreifen. Kein meet, kein Office. Recognize, face recognition, maps und automatisches Bild tagging werden die Hauptaufgaben der Instanz sein.
Frage: wie ernst muss ich die Warnungen im Error Log nehmen? Ist ignorieren OK?

Помню, как поставил себе #nextcloud на домашний мини-сервер просто посмотреть. Потом перенёс туда синхронизацию фоток. Потом контакты, календарь, задачи, веду посещаемость студентов в таблицах, для родителей доустановил фотоальбом и книгу рецептов. Сейчас для меня это второй по важности ресурс, после почты.
Итого:
1 - Надо иногда пробовать новое и, кажется, не совсем нужное.
2 - #СПО - рулит.

Auch wenn der Eindruck entstanden sein mag, ich würde mich *nur* mit politischen Problemen beschäftigen, gibt es durchaus das ein und andere #Hobby , um das Sorgenzentrum im Hirn zu entlasten. 😜 Aktuelles Projekt: #nextcloud Server auf einen NUC unter #Ubuntu2404LTS installieren, um danach die Nextcloud Daten sowie -Konfiguration von einer Interimslösung ( #VM auf meinem Arbeits PC) zu übertragen. Zweck: Ressourcen sparen. Der PC ist großzügig konfektioniert und verbraucht ordentlich Strom 😉

I am working on UI tests for the #Nextcloud app for iOS. This includes server state setup, teardown and assertions. I am delighted how simple it actually is to interact via #WebDAV. All the basic things like creating a folder or file, transferring them can be just simple cURL commands. I know, the protocol has its pain points, too. Maybe I got used too much to more complicated technologies in this field. 😄

Uh, das Update meines #nextcloud Servers scheint gerade im Download Step zu blockieren, also habe ich den Download mal lokal versucht und ja, da ist Luft nach oben. Keine Ahnung, ob die Nextcloud Server gerade irgendwie per #ddos angegriffen werden?
Also nur, wenn ihr euch auch wundert, normalerweise ist der Download kaum der Rede wert.
