The biggest problem with decentralised platforms with a federated design is that servers don't connect and sync. Yk with mastodon it ain't that bad but boy I just got back into matrix and that was a dumpsterfire. Like it's horrible, the most robust server is the biggest pain to setup and any bit of administration has to be done over a api and the cli programs that interface with it suck and the only panel requires cors headers but for some reason they are ignored for me. I have two instances on a vm (synapse and conduit) and the fucking conduit server just ignored any messages of the synapse server for a entire day for no reason and it starts bitching about config files I don't know existed when I set the domain of both servers to localhost. Also I tried to use a discord matrix bridge and let say either it doesn't work of you need extra space like the mxc url proxy/forwarding shit works so trash like I had the entire thing proxied behind nginx and apparently pfps on both sides don't work and media just stopped working on the matrix side after randomly restarting, also the pfps started working about I turned of direct media but now I need extra space. Also one of my accounts joined a room once the first time I joined, now it can't join it at all, even got a mod to kick that account but no I just can't see that room because fuck you. And apparently the people who made the bot just started ghosting me like wtf. Also synapse has a s3 addon to store files in s3, guess what, it doesn't fucking work and there's no support like not even a message and tge documentation is wack ass and in the end it only does local data. Like man this is stupid, so i tried mounting a smb share to where media would be outputted, nope apparently mount8ng any type of network share and then letting services acces it is not possible because anything in fstab will be mounted and all permissions will be for root only and nobody has anything to fix that. Someone suggested I use nfs and boy is it trash, my nas need authentication but nfs doesn't have any authentication methods so it just won't connect. I'm like so done with this shit sometimes I contemplate my life choices. You might say fet a different hobby, like dude this is the only thing I'm remotely good at and I suck at sports due to physical issues I have and I'm a impatient person and my mental capacity has been eroded by school for the last years. I'm honestly soo cooked.

Patrick Boyle does a good job giving #a16z chief bro and Nerd Reich mastermind Marc Andreessen a hard time for the insane statements made by the latter on the Joe Rogan Experience a few days ago.
tl;dr Andreessen claimed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau needs to be eliminated because it's "Elizabeth Warren's personal agency that exists to terrorize fintech companies to prevent them from competing from the big banks" (I'm paraphrasing).
Conveniently unmentioned is that one of #a16z's big fintech investments, #Synapse, has lost something like $50-100 million in customer funds and is exactly the kind of company the #CFPB just announced it would try to regulate.
Andreessen's whole performance on Rogan was truly disgusting.
