We’re on social media! I repeat – we’re on social media!
Yes, don’t miss it! But I bet you already have. I have created accounts a while back on Threads & Instagram. Today we also have accounts on Bluesky and the Fediverse.
Links to all of these social media platforms can be found in the top menu header. Now, please – go and follow me there.
My stance on social media remains, though.
For this blog, using social media sucks. It does not work. I rarely get followers and I use it absolutely pointlessly. Still, I’m trying once more to make it a somewhat success. I need to spread the word further that this blog exists.
It’s worth a try at least.
If you’d like to help out, please reshare my posts on social media. Encourage people to go in and have a read. I am pretty sure that once they get here, they’ll not regret it.
I’m also considering creating a page with testimonials, but that’s probably pointless too. I mean, I’m not selling stuff here. I just write. What else are testimonials for?

The most active was about the #Lightning connector where all the #Apple apologists came out of the woodwork to kneel at the altar of iPhone. 🤣

Estimados habitantes de https://masto.es:
Hemos estado revisando los últimos cambios en la política de moderación de contenidos de #Meta (anteriomente conocida como Facebook) y debatiendo cómo afecta esto a nuestra relación con #Threads, su red social de microblogging que está conectada (parcialmente) al #Fediverso.
El veredicto es que la nueva política de contenidos de Meta podría suponer un esfuerzo adicional al equipo de moderación y además es incompatible con los valores que https://masto.es pretende defender.
Para que os hagáis una idea, su nueva política incluye excepciones como la siguiente:
> permitimos acusaciones de enfermedad mental o anormalidad cuando se basan en el género o la orientación sexual, dado el discurso político y religioso sobre transexualismo y homosexualidad (Fuente: https://transparency.meta.com/en-us/policies/community-standards/hate-speech/)
Anuncio por tanto que https://masto.es cambia su posición con respecto a #Threads y optará por suspender toda relación con el servidor https://threads.net por permitir discursos de odio.
Comprendo que esto pueda resultar inoportuno para algunos de vosotros, que quizás elegisteis este servidor por ser uno de los pocos (sino el único) servidor hispano que no optó inicialmente por bloquear https://threads.net.
Por eso voy a dar un par de semanas de margen para que busquéis un nuevo servidor si lo necesitáis. A partir del 1 de febrero, el bloqueo a https://threads.net desde https://masto.es se hará efectivo.
Espero que comprendáis esta decisión, que en cualquier caso volveremos a revisar si la situación mejora (lo cual no parece probable, por desgracia).

this is true of federating with #threads too. they cannot tag us here yet. more hate speech there doesn't mean we will see it unless we follow those users. feeling icky shouldn't be enough reason to disconnect. if this were the sentiment in the 90s, we'd have a much different web today.
when/if they do fully federate, this will definitely be an issue if they go beyond just allowing shitty opinions to not policing their users who harass others. #fediblockmeta
