About the rumored #m4 #ipad pros: #Apple has never shipped a CPU microarchitecture fewer than 12 months from the previous generation. This lines up with iPhone shipping schedules. I have doubts they have a new core ready today.
The question is, what does “m4” mean? My guess is that this iPad chip is going to be a new SoC, on a new TSMC process, but using the same cpu cores as m3 chips. Apple likes to use iPads as pipe-cleaners for new processes. I have no idea what will be different about it from a user perspective.
